TOKYO, Japan:In a landmark deal, Wistron NeWeb Corp (Taiwan) and The New Media Group, KK (TNMG) have developed and launched the world’s first IPTV STB that plays both AV1 and MPEG4 h.264 encoded content. The World On-Demand STB will be deployed in Japan, Australia and the US by TNMG for its growing World On-Demand IPTV platform (www.WorldOnDemand.net).Serving multiple ethnic and local populations, the STB will offer linear channels, VOD, SVOD, games, and various billing options to Japanese, Indian, Pakistani, Chinese, Sri Lankan, Filipino, Australian, Nepalese, French, and American subscribers, as well as Christians and Muslims worldwide.
The World On-Demand STB, modeled using advance technology and manufacturing innovation from Wistron NeWeb Corp, will open a whole new world of TV programs and Video-On-Demand, Audio programs, Music, Games, banking services and much more! Wistron NeWeb Corp’s set-top box technology can receive and process both a digital and an analog signal. It supports various video and audio decoders, including H.264, MPEG2, MPEG4, AV1, AC3, AAC, and MP3. The SPDIF port enables high quality Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround sound. For managing the set-top box, World On-Demand users can easily configure the settings and even upgrade the software via a click of the remote control. World On-Demand offers linear channels, VOD, SVOD and an easy-to-use EPG program guide.
